I just wanted to take a moment to share that we found out that Baby Miller is a boy!! We are very excited, but we're having a terrible time thinking of the perfect boy name. Let's hear some of your suggestions and I'll run them by Chris!
I hope you all are having a great first day back from Spring Break! How were your breaks? Did anyone do something really fun or go somewhere great? I'd love to hear all about them. Now that you're back to school though, can you believe that you're almost 7th graders? I hope you're enjoying every moment of these last couple weeks of being 6th graders. What are you looking forward to most for the end of the year?

"May the odds be ever in your favor!"
In case you didn't know, a little movie called The Hunger Games came out today! If you know anything about me, I'm sure you realize how EXCITED I am to see this movie. Unfortunately, I have to hold out until tomorrow, so for the time being I'd like to live vicariously through you - how was it???? Don't give away any spoilers, but, did you love it? I'm so excited for to see it that I actually re-read the book in preparation, and it was just as good as the first time!!
In other news, I received several very nice birthday wishes! Thank you, homeroom kiddos, for the birthday song video. It was literally one of the best presents I got! And I got a very sweet birthday card from my fourth period students. It was so thoughtful and I definitely didn't expect it! It wasn't the same celebrating my birthday in Arkansas, but it was really nice to hear from all of you!
I'd love some updates about how things are going at Trickum! I hear the book fair was this week, what did you get? Any good books I should read? And, the PROBE Math field trip was today, right? How did it go? Was the 6th grade social this week, too? Sounds like an exciting week! I'd love some updates about the fun stuff that is happening at TMS!

We may be tired, but we're here!
After a couple of long, tiring days for Miss Avery, we are finally in Little Rock and settled! It sure has been a lot of packing, driving, and unpacking. Thank you again to all of you who sent me off with kind words, gifts, and heartfelt cards. As I unpacked those today each one of them made me smile!
You all were on my mind today in the midst of all this work, though. I hope your first day back was a good one and that everyone is adjusting well without me. Like I told you all before, I am more worried about how sad this makes me because I just know that you will be fine without me! Although Avery is good company, it's just not the same as seeing your 100 faces each day. I really will miss you all a great deal.
To help make me feel better, tell me about the best part of your long weekend! The trick is you can only tell ONE thing, so make it count!
PS - Who can figure out what kind of sentence the title to this post is?

What I Will Miss Most
Finding one thing that I will miss about Trickum and my students has been really difficult because there are just so many wonderful things to miss about you all!! If I had to narrow it down though, I will most miss being a part of your lives. I'll miss hearing about your soccer tournaments, baseball games, weekend activities, etc. I'll also miss hearing about all your struggles (little or big) and helping you work through them. Mainly, I'll just miss being with you every day!
Now it's your turn. What will you miss most?
Now it's your turn. What will you miss most?
Saying Goodbye . . .

Dear Parents,
As I’m sure many of you already know 2012 will be a year of big changes for the Miller family! We are expecting our first baby in August and couldn’t be more excited about becoming parents. It is with a truly heavy heart, though, that I inform you about another big change for our family. My husband, Chris, very recently found out about a promotion within his company. Although it is a great opportunity for him and our family, it unfortunately means that we will be leaving Georgia for him to take the job. Chris has actually already left Atlanta and is busy setting things up for us in our new home of Little Rock, Arkansas. Sadly, this means that we are apart right now and that unfortunately I will be leaving before the end of the school year to join him. My last day at Trickum will be Friday, March 9th, in order for me to get settled in Little Rock before the arrival of Baby Miller.
This has been a difficult decision for me as I don’t want my students to feel like they’ve been abandoned. My worry has been greatly eased in knowing that for the remainder of the school year my students will be in very capable hands. Ms. Miffy Moore, a retired former Trickum teacher and colleague of mine will be taking over my position after I leave. I worked very closely with Ms. Moore during the first four years of my career, as she was the gifted Social Studies teacher in 6th grade before she retired. She is truly great with 6th grade students, and I know that she will provide a challenging and rigorous end to the school year for my soon to be 7th graders! Another plus is that Ms. Moore has subbed for myself (and several other 6th grade teachers), so my students are already relatively familiar with her. For all of these reasons, I sincerely think that my students will be very well cared for during this time of transition.
With the ease of knowing who will take my place, what I am most worried about now is how I will adjust to leaving this wonderful Trickum community. I could not be any happier with this group of students, and I will truly miss being a part of their lives and sharing in their triumphs. It has been harder than I would have thought to leave such an excellent group of kids. Not only are my students this year wonderful, but I have really been blessed with a very supportive group of parents, which has made my job just that much more enjoyable. It truly has been a pleasure to work in a community where students are supported and where parents have high expectations for what their kids can accomplish. Trickum and Lilburn have been the best places to start my teaching career and I could not have been any more blessed.
If there is anything I can do to make this time of transition easier for you or your students please don’t hesitate to let me know. I hope to make this a smooth transition so as not to disrupt the hard work they’ve been doing all year. Thank you all again for such a wonderful year, and I wish you and your families all the best in the future!
Sincerely,
Ms. Miller
